Introduction

In the given assignment there is elaboration of the consequences of the motivation strategies made by the organizations for increasing their sales and for achieving their desired results. There are different example in the case study that helps in understanding the consequences of the motivation in well manner.

 Although there were some legal ramifications for what Hooters did, were the actions toward the waitresses also unethical?

Yes, actions towards the waitress were also unethical. The behavior of the Hooters towards the waitresses was unethical as it was promised to the waitresses that winning employee will get Toyota car, but instead of receiving the Toyota car Star Wars toy Yoda doll was given to her. Due to this type of activity, there was abreach of contract as thecontract was made by the owners that the employee who will increase the sale of the beer will be given Toyota car. She asked for the compensation from the owner because in return for her efforts noting was given to her (Pandey, 2016).

 Were the waitresses lied to? If so, is lying to employees unethical?

Yes, waitresses lay that Toyota car will be given and in return, nothing was given to her. This action by the Hooters harms the goodwill as well as theemployee is not interested further. The motivation level of the waitresses was high due to winning the Toyota car. She worked with full dedication to winning the competition. Lying to the employees in the organization is also unethical because that particular waitress worked for winning the car and by end, nothing was given to her. By this action there is aloss of the waitresses and benefit to the organization because there sales ratio is increased by this motivation strategy.

 What about the motivating strategy of allowing employees to rip the shirts of other employees off? Is humiliating employees ethical?

This behavior of ripping the shirts has adirect impact on the employees as it was decided by the organization that winning employees will after the dinner get the chance to rip the shirt of the loser employees. It was also decided that winning employees will sit at adifferent place and will get different food and losers will get another one. This kind of activity creates the discrimination among the employees as well as employees cannot work properly due to such kinds of motivation strategy in the organization. Yes, the humiliating of the employees due to such action of the organization is ethical. Motivation strategy made by the organizations should be positive not like these strategies that create the differences among the employees as well as due to such action employees are ashamed of. Positive motivation strategy will help theorganization in creating the healthy workplace as well as targets will be achieved in an effective manner (Howard, et. al.,2016).  

 How is it ethical to promise money or other compensation to students for studying hard? What if the losing students actually studied harder than the winner, but the winner only did well because he/she happened to be brighter? How would giving that student the money be fair to the students who studied harder?

Compensation to the students in return of studying hard is ethical as by this students will study with full dedication. It will also help in encouraging the other students for working harder so that they can receive the promised money or compensation.
