What Is History

How ever would we know the story of our country? Our forefathers? The roots from which our crops grow from? People over time have kept detailed records of countless events over the years. From nation to nation, state to state, even city to city. History is important for many reasons and why history is important to me is for various reasons. History to me is about lessons learned from the past and the outcome of it. It’s a way for us to trace the footsteps of previous generations. Their stories. History is the timeline of our past passed down throughout the years. Without history we’d never know the struggles nor accomplishments from previous years. History is happening today for history books of tomorrow.

History is what has built our country, is building, and will continue to build our country for years to come. It's more than what we learn in a classroom setting. Take for example today's current events Michael Brown, Eric Garner, Trayvon Martin, even Jonathan Ferrell(whose killer was found guilty of his murder), are all making history with their deaths. I am part Panamanian and part African American, I see all sides of the story regardless of race however it's time our country starts to open theirs eyes to the bigger picture as well and they have.
