Richardson's passionate pursuit for a product with a consistent flavor and a deeper red color has

limited his business success. The product hasn't met his expectations and the business fails to

meet its fullest growth potential.

Objectives / Analysis

1. Richardson needs to establish long and short term visions for direction of the vineyard. He

needs to establish a defined business plan that will help in leading his decision making in the

future.

2. Establish a criteria to assess future projects and the relevance of these projects to his business

priorities.

3. Using a defined criteria, evaluate the three proposed quality improvement projects or any

other improvement projects that may better the Vineyard and help Richardson achieve the goals

that he has set forth for his Vineyard.

Reviewing and analyzing these three objectives I feel that Richardson can take his Vineyard to

the next level. He will need to takes steps in a new direction to keep from being stagnate in his

business plans and in his financial future. By evaluating these objectives he can get a clear

picture of his past and current position, to allow him the ability to make decisions on

improvements for the future growth of the company.

Richardson needs to establish long and short term visions for direction

of the vineyard. He needs to establish a defined business plan that will

help in leading his decision making in the future.

The only plan that he seems to have is making a "quality" product, but with so many variables in

wine making "quality" is a difficult term to describe. What may be quality with

one type or certain brand of wine, may not be considered quality with another. He could in all

actuality have a quality product on a low end market and make considerable money selling this,

or have a vision for only a high end product creating much less product for a high end marketing

label. Richardson will need to work to create a clearer picture of his vision. In addition to

defining his idea of quality Richardson will need to define his financial goals. He has stated that

he would like to leave a legacy for his children, but what exactly does this mean? What would

be a reasonable goal to be considered successful? Would he like to have enough money to hire

additional help? It seems that he will have to be much more clear in what he considers a legacy

for the children and before this can even be left for his kids, he will need to verify the amount

necessary to live a lifestyle that he has chosen and also to run the business. It seems that he

may want to try to grow the business to make more money , which may require more workers or

additional automation. All of the things listed need to be taken in to consideration.
