Essay title: The Grounds on Which Lives Are Changed

Have you ever just sat in the woods and taken in the smells? The rotting leaves and pine needles under your legs mixed with the fresh new scent of the green leaves over head just give me a feeling that is completely undescribable. Call it peace, or call it complete understanding, I don’t care, but this is the type of feeling that you don’t ever want to leave you. I’ve found myself sitting outside, just down back behind my house, so that no one can see me from the house, and I sit there and swim through my own thoughts. I remember past memories and happenings. I often find myself reliving these events in my head, replying them and seeing what I could have done to change the outcome of the situation.

When I’m down back, there in my thinking place, I am totally aware of everything that I have done, everyone I have met, and my reasons for remembering them. I have no idea why, but this is the place of my deepest thoughts, revelations, and understandings. The chirping of tiny
