Is Tracking an Effective Strategy?

In the point /counter point section of chapter 5 it talks about tracking in schools. Is tracking helping today's students or hindering them in learning? The Point section of the article advises that tracking is in away harmful to students education because if a low achieving student is placed in a low track there is no room for improvement for the child to grow in their educational learning. In a sense there is no future educational growth for the child on the lower track and this could lead to students dropping out of school. The counter point on tracking is that tracking is an advantage to education. The students are divvied up by their learning ability.

In my own opinion tracking can lead to several issues in educating our youth. First there is the issue of dividing the students according to their learning capabilities.
