This includes processes, procedures, patterns, reference works, formulas, best practices, forecasts and fixes. Internet and Intranet websites, groupware, data mining, knowledge bases, discussion forums and videoconferencing are some of the key information technologies for gathering, storing and distributing this knowledge. KMS are typically used in a business where employees create new knowledge and expertise which can then be shared by other people in the organization to create further commercial opportunities. For example firms of management consultants & accountants. KMS are built around systems which allow efficient categorization and distribution of knowledge. Foe example, the knowledge itself might be contained in word processing documents, spreadsheets, Power-point presentations, internet pages, etc. To share knowledge, a KMS would use group collaboration systems such as internet or intranet.
