Introduction

Bill Clinton is a tragic hero according to Aristotle definition tragic hero (Harvey, Diane 2000). A tragic character is a character who is kind, intelligent and vigorous. A tragic hero is not a martyr, but he is always successful. Such a person should also have tragic flaws which are significant aspects in the position of leadership. Bill Clinton owns two aspects of different characters. The first side is the person who was twice elected by the American citizens. In this case, he is depicted as caring, creative and an adamant person. The other side of Bill Clinton is reflected in his private life as careless, weak and decadent. Bill Clinton’s character as a tragic hero clearly matches the theory that was formulated by Aristotle as evidenced by his successes and flaws as well. He was brought down by his downfalls and flaws which also contributed to his recognition. Pride underlies all the tragic defeats. Bill Clinton possessed an adamant sense of denial and invulnerability. This got his reputation destroyed as people started viewing him as more human and judging him about the mistakes that he made.

Just like a lot of marriages and families in the modern world, his tends to be a mystery. The relationship between the first lady and his daughter it is almost a tragedy. President Clinton’s sexual affairs with other women have positively affected his family to a considerable extent. It has led to a lot of embarrassment and has been a point of reference when it comes to his downfall. This essay is going to depict Bill Clinton as a tragic hero who’s both sides of strength and weaknesses are evidenced by Aristotle.

Why Bill Clinton Is Hero Consider As Tragedy Hero According To Aristotle

Bill Clinton was raised up from a low-income family. He did not live to see his biological father since he died when her mother was pregnant. His mother married again, and his stepfather was a drunkard, and their normal life was typically affected by domestic violence. Due to this, their life was surrounded by poverty (Harvey, Diane 2000). However, Bill took the initiative and warned his stepfather against hitting his mother and half-brother. Despite being brought up in such a family, he still rose to power.

How He Became Governor of Arkansas

Bill Clinton joined politics while he was still a teenager. In the year 1974, he entered the political career that he had always anticipated. He ran for the Congress but lost the election very closely. In 1975, he ran for the office of governor of Arkansas. He won the election, and this rendered him the youngest governor of that state ever. However, his young age and lack of experience did not impress some of the citizens of Arkansas. He faced several missteps in his leadership including way forward in handling the riots among the refugees from Cuban. Due to these failures, the citizens of Arkansas voted him out for Frank White in the next election. In the year 1982, he readmitted his mistakes and used his incredible TV ads to convince the voters to give him another chance. He won the support of the electorate who also supported him in the next two terms for instance 1986 and 1990. (Jacobson, 1999)

His Achievement While He Was Governor of Arkansas

As governor, Clinton championed for several issues that were affecting the people of Arkansas. He advocated for reforms in the education system and she appointed his wife to lead a committee of higher standards for all the schools in Arkansas. At some point, one of the administration’s proposals called for conduction of competency tests for all the teachers, a policy development that led to the sparkling up of a national debate. The reforms resulted in a massive improvement in the education system in the state and the overall ranking also moved to the top. He also promoted welfare reforms which were aimed at improving the working standards of all the workers in the state and support affirmative action in appointing more Americans to the state boards, agency posts, and commissions.
