Ponyboy leaped from inside the burning church with flames heating his back as his jacket was burning. I reacted fast and gave his back a big slap to try to put out the flames before they burned him to death. “Ponyboy” I yelled as he hit the ground, Ponyboy was lying flat on the ground he was out cold.
Johnny was burnt really bad by time anybody to him, he was unconscious. Once the ambulance arrived Ponyboy, Johnny, And I all rushed to the hospital. Ponyboy`s brothers rushed to come see him and Ponyboy was surprised because he thought that Darry his oldest brother didn’t care about him anymore. Ponyboy described the lobby of the hospital as a mad house. He said there were news reporters pushing the microphones in his face from every direction. Once I found out how poor ole Johnny was doing I started to cry, I could tell by the look on Ponyboy’s face that he was surprised that I was crying because no one has ever seem me cry.
Pony started talking to me about the rumble that was happening that night and that made me feel kind of hyped up because rumbles were my favorite things in the whole wide world, especially against the Soc’s. The doctor told me I’d be alright in a couple of days and that means I don’t get to be in the rumble so I asked Two-Bit for his switch to convince to doctors to let me out early. The greasers were definitely going to beat the Soc’s this time because they had got Tim Sheppard’s gang to help them out. This rumble was going to be a clean one witch meant no weapons allowed. Pony boy was in to see Johnny and then came up to visit me and then I asked “how’s the kid” Ponyboy said that he seemed pretty bad and that he was out cold before he left. I was about to bawl my eyes out but then I stopped myself because I did not want to worry Pony because I knew there was a good chance of poor ole Johnny dying.
