  1. How would you describe Lincoln’s approach to the organization and motivation of their employees?

By the organization the rewards and salary are tied to perfomance of the employees. When they work had they can get a very good compensation what is far above the market average. Every employee gets a rating regaring their performance. The reting and the work they do will determine the salary of an employee.

There are no barriers between the employees, the management and the top of Lincoln's. The jobs are as much as possible filled in by internal employees. Also get a guarantee that they will have a job in order to create a safe environment where employees do not have to fear for their job when they provide input or critcism. It prevent also employees to resist automation witin the company.

The management structure is opposed to hierarchal and you can say it is outstanding. The motivation is good with the result that employees work far more than they have to.  

  1. The role of the organization structure the last 25 years in regard to linconls performance?

The employees work very hard, has a good motivation and everyone had a good understading of the different processes in the company. That is the reason they can think ahead when performing their own tasks and anticipate on the work the next person in the chain has to do. Because of the fact that employees do not have to fear for their job means they are welcome to automation and thechnological advances.

Differents studies shows that Lincoln has been able to deliver better and better products for lower prices while giving employees and stakeholders a higher return.

There are people that says the current system of the company will only work as long as the business is good. When the moment comes where the problems start, there will be problems with the motivation of the employees. The main reason why the employees works so hard is the high reward they wil get. When the company is not longer able to pay the high rewards the work motivitaion wil decrease.

There is notices by the president that employees nowadays are more outspoken and interested in why things are being done, not just how. The company has to adjust to this new type of employee and offer them more insight into the motivation behind certain actions.

The management believes in its organizational structure of the company. They point out that the structure has been successful for very long and has evolved over time. As long as they continue to follow the principles on which the organization is built and they continue to evolve and innovate they are confident that the company has a bright future.

  1. What recomendations would you make to Mr. Willis?

First of all Mr willis has done a great job. He keeping de costst low and motivates the employees that is why the productivy of the employees is high. The strategy of the company works well so you can think there is not any need to change the current system. But they operated in a  globalization market. This means that the market changes all te time and the strategy has changes with the market. Mr. Willis should keep the low cost and motivate the high productivity and gain on the learning curve to lower the cost even more. So he must maintain the high motivational factor of employee, productitvity and low cost. Also the company must be more competitive and needs to expand their products.

  1. What is th applicability of Lincoln's approach to motivation to other companies and situations? Why do not more companies operate like lincoln.

Lincoln's motivates the organization as a whole,  not only the managers get much responsibiliy, they give much responsibility to their employees either. At lincoln there is equality among the management and the employees.

They uses a several different management techniques like:

  • Having  a high employee rate
  • Researche for more developed technology
  • Create a great variety in goods
  • Strategic analysis of a potential growth in earnings.

Also Lincoln learned  from his mistakes the have make the late 80s and early 90s

At least Lincoln's approach to lower the cost and has the competitive edge of manufacturing innovative products.  The continuously strive to increase productivity,motivate employee and lower the expenses of each department.
