Team environment

Working effectively in a team environment is very decisive for many small and big businesses. It’s necessary to acquire skills in effective communication, collaboration, time management, and business acumen. In every group the individual share a common task of meeting the defined objective. By establishing a responsibility matrix, you define who is responsible, accountable and knowledgeable for each task you complete. Working with a different group of people, sometimes in different locations, presents many challenges. Learning to work together effectively in a team environment permits everyone involved to achieve their personal and professional goals.

I had a chance to work with one of the successfully toys manufacturing company as an employee for a while and one of the competitive advantages the organization has is the use of teamwork. One of my personal experience that I have been through in the team environment is greater cooperation within the members of the team which leads to high productivity in the manufacturing department. The people in my group have active and have shown a high level of teamwork through collaboration, in the end, there is high productivity amongst them. Working in a team environment typically involves collaborating with others to solve problems and develop ground-breaking solutions. Behaving cooperatively includes valuing the contributions of others, brainstorming ideas with team members, and sharing tasks to get work done efficiently. For instance, using social media expertise, team members can discuss alternatives to problems by contributing to wikis, blogs or forums. This is because the management has been able to train and educate the employees on the importance of teamwork and the efficient process of formation. The leaders during the process and steps of establishing the groups, individuals were based on the way they knew each other and their departments. This factor played a significant role in ensuring the team is efficient in its work.

Furthermore what also contributed to their success was effective communication. Effective communication guarantees that all team members know what is required of them. By conducting regular meetings and sharing information, the project team supervisor creates an environment where team members can exhibit their individual contributions to the effort, as well as ask clarifying questions. This minimizes ambiguity and prevents misunderstandings and fight. To construct relationship, an effective project leader conducts team-building exercises to foster good communication. For example, play a survival game by asking your team to identify five items they would need to stay alive on a desert island. This exercise aids the group come up with strategies for conducting productive

Another experience I had was Business Acumen in order to  develop skills in business acumen, we conducted team-building exercises that presented scenarios in my team members, and give them the opportunity to participate in role-playing activities. For example, we divided  our team into pairs. Presented a challenge which was  relevant to our business, such as dealing with an angry project sponsor who provides funding to the project. We Had one person play the role of the sponsor and explain his concerns over an issue, such as a cost overrun. We Instructed the other person to play the role of an employee and react to the issue, such as why the project involves additional resources and funding. This exercise helped my team members  practice communicating clearly to demonstrate that they truly understand how the business works and making decisions.

.

Also, I have experienced a negative portion of teamwork which was a lot of time was consumed when a decision was being made. When a team wanted to make a decision on ways of flexibility in the process of production a lot of time was consumed. This is because there is a need for coordination by the team leaders by calling for frequent meetings to get the opinions of the members which also have to be considered before the final decision is made. Production sector is a crucial factor in the manufacturing company; therefore, it is important to hasten the process of decision-making. Team members depended on each other to complete tasks according to the plan which was ineffective from one course or duty to the next. Effective time management includes prioritizing, preparation and focusing on work to maintain productivity. But this was not the case here .For example, to function efficiently, team members should evaluate each task as important or urgent. Important activities typically lead to personal achievement. Urgent activities require immediate attention and may be associated with anxieties from superiors. By classifying activities, you can isolate distractions and interruptions, and minimize them in your schedule in the future. This helps you concentrate on work that truly adds to the overall team’s goal as well as your personal career objectives. This experience can be corrected by members being assigned their specific duties and be asked to have their own discussion on the matter outside before the meetings are held (Towry, 2003). While having their outside meetings they can disagree and weigh their sides before coming to the meeting with one opinion which will then be discussed in details.
