What Poetry Means to Me

"Forever beautiful is what you'll be...you are the summer that never ends." So this is poetry. But what does poetry really mean? To me poetry is someone’s feelings, thoughts, and emotions written on paper through words. As a society as a whole we can find ourselves describing a lot of different objects. These objects can be flowers, a new shirt we just bought, or even the way a car looks. Sometimes when we tell someone how we feel that just is not enough. I love you, as strong as its meaning is; sometimes you feel that just those three simple words are not enough. You want to tell the other person how much you love, them so you write it down and use other words to describe just how much you love them. Even before we say I love you to our significant other we want them to know how much we care about them. We want them to know how we appreciate everything they have done and keep doing. Sometimes we think that is just not enough, we want them to feel as great as they make us feel. Sure saying I really appreciate what you did means a lot, but when you express just how much, written in another way with other words, it means a lot more. And that is exactly what the author of this poem was thinking.
