It is very easy to admire someone. Whether it be driven by jealousy or a fawn esque emotion. But are they really admirable for the right reasons? Do you really think they deserve to be a rolemodel? I think that Jesy Nelson from the girl group “Little Mix” deserves to be considered as a rolemodel.
Jessica Louise Nelson was born in Romford, London on June 14, 1991. She moved schools frequently as a child due to the harsh bullying she was victim to. When she tried out for the XFactor in 2011, She, again, Was victim to harsh cyberbullying about her appearance and ability to sing. This affected her immensely in the competition but she overthrew her insecurities and became the carefree person she is today. Jesy today simply doesn't care about what the internet has to say about her. With her loud, yet reserved personality, she never ceases to amaze me with her dirty humour and big heart. With her band Little Mix, they ran an Anti Bullying campaign called “#DeleteCyberBullying”. The girls confessed their own encounters with bullying and how they wish to end bullying for young teens around the globe.
Being apart of a fairly popular girl band in this society, the internet has an idealistic look for celebrities. Jesy doesn't fall into their expectations. With her curvy physique, the internet absolutely loved to beat down her self-confidence to a pulp. While Jesy struggled with self love, her bandmates constantly tell her how beautiful she really is, making Jesy the most confident person I have ever had the pleasure to look up to. With her flawless sense of style and her best friends beside her, you can’t take away her pride. She wears what she wants to wear and lives by the tattoo that circles around her thigh,”A lion never loses sleep over the opinion of sheep.” She absolutely loves tattoos and wishes to be covered in them someday.
