                                Women in Ghana

When it comes to men and women in Ghana, women do not share the same qualities as men. They live in a phase of inequality where men are higher than women. Men have more power and control. This is a problem because women in Ghana are overlooked by men and it affects their standard of living. In relationships women have to obey their husbands and do what they say. There are a lot of things in Ghana that men do that women can’t do. They have advantage of opportunities, limited resources and services, and empowerment. This is an important issue because as humans women deserves to be treated equally as men. Women of Ghana are neglected in ways of unfairness when it comes to being equal to men and it affects the lifestyle of women.

Being neglected or overlooked causes these Ghana women to struggle in their personal lives by limiting what they can have and do. In Ghana men get more access to resources and services. “Gender biases and inequalities affects resource allocation among men and women and this results in women’s poor economic status” (Wrigley-Ashante). This cause women to struggle more than the men esecially single women. When they are not allowed to do some things and apply for some jobs life isn’t always easy for them. This shouldn’t be ignored knowing that Ghana does suffer poverty included both men and women. Its not easy making a living in Ghana so it shouldn’t be harder on the women to make a living than it is on the men. In a situation like this women deserves to have a little more rights as the men do.

In Ghana, Men wouldn’t perfer women to have equal opportunites as them. For an example, they believe that women shouldn’t be bosses or mangers in the workforce. In the progession of society, women recently lifted the barrier placed on them and gained the opportunity of being employed in upper level positions. This brings much dispute and hassle in the work force as in the Researchers World: Journal of Arts, Science & Commerce article mentioned a study that shows that men in Ghana perfer to work under men instead of women. They feel that women shouldn’t be placed in such high positions. “Even with equal qualifications and achievements to that of their male counterparts, women are perceived less favorable in terms of their ability and accomplishments”. Woman are women and they are not men, thefore they don’t deserve that opportunity. In most cases, men find it hard to obey and follow directions from women in high positions just because they are women. This shows discrimination against women. Men don’t want their power to be override by women. If women can push themselves to be qualified men should respect that and allow them to be equal as them.
