Dinner Please?

Brian waltzes into Firehouse Steaks. Firehouse Steaks was his favorite restaurant and it was a Friday evening, which meant 25% off your whole meal. The place was crowded and crowded due to the discounted food and it looked like there wasn’t any table available. Brian walked up to the front desk with a hopeful, but worried face.                                                                                                                “Hey, do you guys have any extra tables? Wow! I wasn’t expecting this many people to be here this late        “Looks like you’re a lucky guy,” the lady said as she checked the reservations list. “Someone just left and nobody has taken his table yet, if you would please follow me.” So Brian was escorted to his table and his waitress almost instantly popped up.                                                                                         “Hello! My name is Clara, and will be your waitress today,” she said with almost too much excitement in her voice. “What would you like to order?”                                                                                         “I would like the number three meal, steak well done, and the mashed potatoes instead of the baked potato.”                                                                                                                “Alright, coming right up!” and just as quick as she had appeared, she was gone.

So Brian started gazing at the décor of the restaurant. It had antique style firefighting gear, old hoses, and even an antique painting of a fire truck on the wall above the bar. It was almost a western style restaurant, which he loved because he had lived in the eastern states his whole life. Brian started to think what it would be like in Texas, surely they had gunslingers and horse bandits and tumble weeds just like in the books, right? Brian looked up from his daydreaming and realized it had already been a half an hour. He saw a waitress walking toward him with a meal and he perked up, then she walked right by him. About fifteen minutes of this went by, waitresses walking by him with food, but never his food. Just seeing the waitress walk by with all that food made him feel like he hadn’t eaten in weeks. His mouth started to water and he finally couldn’t take it any longer.

“Hey, I was wondering if my food was almost ready,” Brian said to a passing waitress. “I’ve been waiting an hour and I was worried they had forgotten about me.”                                                                “Oh...” the waitress said, “I’m sorry about that, we were having some issues in the kitchen. Your order should be done any minute.”                                                                                         “Okay, thanks!” Brian said, even though all he could think about was his growling stomach. After about fifteen more minutes, he was about to go up to the front desk and ask what was wrong, but then out of nowhere…        “Hey! Here’s your meal! Sorry that took so long, we had an issue with the grill and had to fix it. Hope you enjoy!” And just like last time, Clara was gone. So finally, after over an hour of waiting, Brian could enjoy his meal. The steak was perfectly cooked, and the mashed potatoes were nice and fluffy. He finished his drink and Clara came by and asked how the meal was and if he would like a refill.                                                        “The meal is great,” Brian said. “And a refill would be awesome, thank you.”                                “No problem!”  Clara left and came back with a refill as quick as a rabbit. ”Will that be all sir?”                “Yes I think so, Thanks for your service.” As Brian was getting up to leave, he went to leave a tip and realized he hadn’t gotten the check yet. So he sat back down and waited till Clara came back. “Hey, umm, could I have my check please?”                                                                                                “Oh yes, of course. Coming right up!” And she was gone.
