The life of Pi has been an interesting book so far. My key passage was when the narrator talked about how Pi got his name Piscine. I thought that it was very funny that he got his name after the word pool in French because his uncle was a swimmer. It’s kind of ironic at the same time since his parents were scared of water as the narrator told us. I can relate to how Pi wanted to change his name since I don’t really use my full name all the time. I find it kind of interesting how the author goes so in depth about all the small things that happened in Pi’s life. I liked how the narrator talked about all the zoo animals so much and super in depth but my group disagreed. They thought that that was kind of useless information in this book. The thing I liked about Pi is that he is so open-minded. He is interested in all the religions in the world. He ignores all of the criticism about him being so religious from his parents and his brother. I feel like we are getting closer the climax of this book and its getting more and more suspenseful.

The life of pi is still a super exciting book. My key passage was when Pi talked about all the supplies he had on the boat. He listed all of the food rations, water supplies, and even listed the tiger and the zebra. I found that really humorous. I found it really disgusting when the author talked about how Pi ate the tiger feces and drank his own urine. I gagged when I read that portion. I also thought it was very gruesome when Pi killed the fish by beating it to death. It was odd how the fish turned different colors as he killed it. Another similar situation was when he tried killing the turtle. It was super gross when he was beating it and it would die so he ripped off the head of the turtle. Even then the turtles body was twitching and his eyes were still blinking. I can relate to the moment when Pi was beating at the fish. I remember when I first went fishing and my uncle had told me to just hit the fish with a blunt object so that it would stop flopping. I hit it once and it wouldn’t die so then I had to hit it again and I didn’t really enjoy it at all.
