I enjoy this short story mainly because I like how the author has a good use of words; I believe the original story would be even more lucrative and smooth, as this story is translated. A snippet that illustrates the author’s fine word play is, “Virgin breast” as it describes purity that is purer then Virgin Mary’s, (.) Another snippet is “Mirage of water” which is ironic and cool because she is actually looking at the sea. Also this story has a grim and different society compared to our society. For example, Women in her society seem to be mere slaves of men. Women do not seem to be valuable, as most women become either “a prostitute or a shoe peddler” ” , (.) (This is because of status quo in her society). As a result of the status quo. This short story is narrated in an excellent manor that I feel as if I am right there beside Belisa in the identical place and identical time. I think it is a very illustrative story mainly due to the right use of the words. I consider this story a Magical Realism short story, (.)this is a short story that explores the reality of a different time and in a different society
