How to do Laundry efficiently- by Michael Gonzales

Final draft

Washing clothing is a chore as old as clothing itself. There are many methods of laundering items, However there are four simple steps in doing laundry efficiently. The four steps in this simple process are as follows: sorting, washing, drying and folding. A few items are required to accomplish this process; a washer and dryer, detergent and possibly dryer sheets. Dryer sheets are used to soften fabrics. Although some articles of clothing should not be done in this simple format other steps and services are available. Laundering clothing is a necessity to keep them looking there best and helps to maintain proper hygiene. These steps are suggestions for efficiency.

The first step in the process is to sort through clothing. All items should be sorted by color, fabric and label instructions. Usually putting into piles of darks, whites and lines is as simple as it gets. Other factors to take into account may be what is written on the label itself. Some clothing requires to be washed separately. Delicate items such as lingerie, sports jerseys or special clothing items such as uniforms are in a category of their own. Always remember like with like items makes sorting simple and efficient. Once this part of the process is complete going on to step two is easy.

The next step would be taking all sorted piles to the washer and loading one load at a time. Make sure to clear all pockets of money, cigarettes, gum, lipstick or anything that might cause damage to clothing. First determine a proper load size for the washer. It is important to leave room in a washing machine. The clothing will not get properly washed if a machine is overloaded. Ensure that directions are met when using specific water temperatures. Most manufacturers have guidelines to this process on the lid of the machine. Once loaded into machine add the detergent to specified amount on lid of the detergent jug or side of box. At the moment the machine stops unload machine and shake clothing out. This is one way to avoid mildew and wrinkles. Washing complete move on to the drying step of the simple process.

The third step in process is to dry all clothing effectively. The drying of clothing prevents mildew, wrinkling and makes clothing feel soft. The loads will also take on a wonderful smell depending on the type of dryer sheet used. The dryer also has manufacturer specifications on size and temperature of a load. After placing clothing in the drum of the dryer, pick the suited temperature. This process is broken down similar to sorting method such as Darks, lights and others. Warning: Towels, jeans and linens usually take a bit longer to dry. Some articles of clothing may be hung to dry, or laid out to dry. An example of this would be a nice sweater or slacks. Some items may shrink if in a dryer at a temperatures too hot for fabrics. This is all taken into account with each load completed. Once all is dried, it is apparent that clothing should be available in a manner to wear. The last step of folding is a tedious process but achieves availability.
