Importance of gear accountability
Accountability is everything within the marine corps,from your cac card to your personal rifle gear accountability is essential to every mission. Not having proper gear accountability affects everything from personal safety to mission readiness. Loosing track of important items like a rifle or any other serialized gear can even lead to disciplinary action as sever as a njp payment for the gear, or legal action , let alone how it affects your fellow marines. This is why we dummy cord such items to decrease the chance of this happening. Simple mistakes as losing or forgetting your weapon cards will delay and negatively affect a whole units training, not just that marine and improperly trained marines lead to death n combat. As ncos need a 100% accountability of there marines, the marines need 100% accountability of themselves and there gear.
Personal accountability is also accepting responsibility for your actions not only gear. Poor gear accountability in garrison may only negatively affect training, but in combat may cost lives or put the whole mission at risk.
