Assignments for Week Six

One

In this unit, we are going to take a look at how species evolve. Do your reading and peruse the PowerPoint. Pages 260-264 discuss the four mechanisms of evolution. I would like you to tell me how these mechanisms relate to humans. For each mechanism answer either one of these questions:

1. How are humans increasing the effects of this mechanism to accelerate evolution?

2. How are humans decreasing the effects of this mechanism to decelerate evolution?

Then I would like you to discuss your answers with a classmate. Place at least one comment that the classmate made concerning your answers at the bottom of your document and e-mail it to me. Be sure to include the person’s name that reviewed your paper on your document. This assignment is due at 11:00PM EST on Wednesday July 13th.

The grading will be based on how well you explained your answers to each condition. A good response will reference the reading for each of the topics. Real life examples and explanations will help support your case.
