Introduction

Riordan Manufacturing is looking to update and organize its distributed database, and network processes. To accomplish this, we plan on implementing an Active Directory structure, which will require new hardware and also continuous software updates. We will also employ new management techniques to ensure that this system will be efficient. In general, this new Active Directory will allow for a more proficient network environment, and will directly effect overall customer satisfaction. This new process will give us the opportunity to prove our claim as the industry leader in plastic manufacturing.

Analyze

The first step in implementing an Active Directory infrastructure for Riordan Manufacturing is to analyze its administrative structure, needs, and goals. This is one of the most important steps because the information gathered from the analysis will influence the design of the Active Directory structure. An effective business analysis offers a clear understanding of the business, sets overall requirements, and allows for the creation of an Active Directory structure that should meet the needs of the organization. The information gathered about the business below should be reflected in the design plans:

• Wireless access between parts plant, beverage container plant, and Corporate Headquarters

• Four geographical cities

o San Jose, CA,

o Albany, GA

o Pontiac, MI

o Hanqzhou

• 550 Total Users

Client Requirements

The Active Directory structure must not only meet the requirements of the administration, but also the requirements of the users in the organization. Riordan Manufacturing requirements should evaluate what tasks that each of the clients will perform. This will aid in setting up groups used in managing policies and overall client privileges. Hardware requirements will also be important with overall organizational production, and also types of security processes associated with relative hardware.

Organizational and Administrative Model

In order to implement the Active Directory, an Organizational Model will be required to assess the organizational structure. This will allow for the creation of an Active Directory structure that fits in with the current scheme of Riordan Manufacturing. The organizational model and that a business has implemented should be reflected in the Active Directory
