Essay title: A Comparison of the Modern Are and the 1920 with Quotes of from the Great Gatsby

The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald is set in the 1920’s. A story of disillusioned love of men, women and money. During the rise of the stock market in the aftermath of the war led to a sudden, sustained increase in the national wealth and a newfound materialism, as people began to spend and consume at unprecedented levels. There for the novel will compromise a much larger and less romantic extent of their lives. The problem is the behavior of some patrons, they are all reasons why I often think we have not changed in our day and age.

The 1920’s was a roaring time after World War 1. Our country began to take off for the first time in years. We were finally making money as a whole. Being able to spend our money was a pleasant change from having to save everything during the war. We were finally standing on our own two feet. They had the money to buy the affordable “cookie cutter” houses and lavish things to fill them with. Parties and get-together became a large part of society , much like today. “ In [Gatsby] his blue gardens men and girls came and went like moths among the whispering and champagne and the stars.(pg.39line 2-4)”We were flourishing. It would not last for long though. Going through the times and era’s of our past we have risen and fallen to where we are now. Through all the rising and falling you would think that we would have made more of a change but we have not. That goes to tell you history repeats itself.

In our modern day and time we have fallen. Our country is losing money due to a lot of things we could put and end to but do not. There are a few similarities we face now looking back on history. We face a lack of confidence in our leaders decisions. We are at war with a Country who we thought were minorities. They made us look unprepared and foolish to the rest of the world. But now we stand at war facing the battles of our time. Although we have changed the of ways of our technology, our intelligence and our families. The technology
