Essay title: A Summer of Changes

A SUMMER OF CHANGES

When you are happy, you never think that it can end in a second. Of course, if you always had tried to imagine something scary, you would not have been so happy. After an incident I had had once, I understood that happiness could be just one step away from losing

it. I was eighteen. Summer was in the air in Chinle, but we could not enjoy it because it was the time of our graduation and we had to study for our final exams. When exams were over, me and my buddies were relieved and decided that we deserved some rest. Usually, most people in Chinle prefer resting in the canyon, living in expensive hotels in Phoenix, eating at expensive restaurants, and enjoying other services provided by travel companies. Although it really is careless relaxation, my friends and I always preferred to travel to wild places.

Well after a complicated life living in the big city when I was attending school in Tucson, well it had intense traffic and polluted air. Then again big cities deal with endless problems, so union with nature seemed to us the most worthwhile way to relax. Getting prepared for the wild trip already made me excited and it was very important not to forget anything. Finally, when all preparations were made, and the trucks loaded up, we, following our chosen route, dreamed of our coming adventures.

On that particular vacation, we had chosen a place named Crystal Navajo because it was a place of wildlife. In the summer, the forest was beautiful. It burst into leaves and needles, and abounded with mushrooms and berries. It was so cool that the unbelievable silence was sometimes interrupted only by birds and insects. There was an amazing lake near the place called Whiskey Lake, which was situated all over area. In addition, Mother Nature had given this special lake a unique feature. Well my buddies was thinking about camping at Many Farms Lake, but, seemed to have red water, because of the iodine in it so that didn’t work. Then again we thought about Wheatfield Lake but it was drained very low, even on the hottest days it was even drained lower. Last time I touched it with my foot and a lot of scum was on my toes which sicken me. Then again Whiskey Lake was most impressive lake on the Navajo Reservation, which seemed to look clear like a bottle of Arrow Head water. Then again the lake was so beautiful that it can be caught by any body passing by with any transportation with out knowing the place. Then again the birds and insects relaxed me five times better than having a glass of wine in an expensive hotel.

Well we camped near Whiskey Lake which was simply beautiful, without any of the expensive camping gear. Soon, my buddies found there self busy with fishing, swimming, playing games, and telling skin walker stories. Sometimes, my buddies and I will leave two people at the camp site and we would explore other interesting places. During one of the trips though the woods, we had to cross a deep and narrow river which had such a strong current that we could not swim across. As I said above, the place was wild and, of course, there was no bridge. We solved that problem by spanning the two banks with a huge
