Essay title: Child Rearing

This chapter on childraising is very interesting but very much a testament to how parents are no longer caring. My family has been in America for over 60 years now, it was 1865 when my family emigrated from Ireland and surprisingly we have done very well for ourselves. I live in the suburbs outside New York City and have a modest job working for a stock broker. This article shows the indifference people have about their children nowadays. I can see letting your kids have a little fun, but when it comes at a cost of their morals and the morals you should have instilled in them since birth it is just shocked to see what little action is done to stop it. I agree how movies are now a place for children to learn things that they normally would not have learned until adulthood, but if you don’t want them to know these things then don’t allow them to go to the movies. I am and always shall be a devout Catholic and I expect my children to live by the rules of God. With all these children going to movies, dances, going motoring, going to petting parties, and these automobile parties, it’s like we have an entire generation of heathens running all about the city, suburbs, and countryside. I have earned what I have from next to nothing, being an immigrant did not help at all, and my children need to learn how to appreciate the hard work I put in to give them this lifestyle. With these other children the lifestyle is given to them and they literally get a free ride in the automobile that their parents spent many hours earning to go have fun at the expense of their parents and society as a whole. Dances, ball games, and school clubs are no issue for me, those environments are rather controlled and the kids can have fun, but for the most part stay in line. Once the children know they can get away from all authority they know they can get away with most anything. I understand that in today’s world girls are getting more “aggressive” and if they are to call one of my sons to go out to a fun activity that is fine by me, but there seems to be something else behind these calls when it comes to
