Essay title: Euthanasia

Euthanasia can be defined in main ways because of the different minds that are behind them. Someone who supports euthanasia will say it is giving someone peace by ending their life of pain and suffering. Someone like me, who is against it, says that it is helping someone commit suicide because they are unsatisfied with their life. The truth is no matter how you put it, it is still killing.

Supporters say that that to commit euthanasia is dying in dignity but they are mistaken because Euthanasia denies our human character and makes us regard ourselves and others as less than fully human. In the words of J. Gay-Williams, "Euthanasia does violence to our dignity because our dignity comes from seeking our ends. When one of out goals is survival, and actions are taken that eliminate that goal, then our natural dignity suffers".

Making euthanasia illegal would help resolve other controversial issues especially ones that deal with death. Abortion could finally be shown as an act that is only but selfish and a crime. People would be able to realize that stem cell research is taking a life and that there are other alternatives to such a procedure.

Family issues would also be resolved. There have been cases where a patient is in a coma from a tragic car accident and the spouse wants to keep him/her alive using the ventilator but the mother wants to pull the plug. It is hard to say you should have the right to make the decision the person that loved and gave birth to or also the lover that had kid with him/her.

Even though it is hard to believe some families could use euthanasia to gain inheritance. By making euthanasia this theory would be getting rid of immediately.

People could commit murder but then say that it was euthanasia and therefore get out with no charge. Making euthanasia legal would cause turmoil in the courts if the death was caused due to euthanasia or murder. Just look what is happening today with murders pleading insanity to get off with a less hashing sentence or going to a deluxe mental facility that feeds them their every need. People could also use plead euthanasia to act as a hindrance for sentencing or trail date.

Thus if euthanasia became illegal the rate of crime would decrease because people could not use euthanasia as their excuse for murder and therefore would think before their actions.

People need to take care of there own lives and not let someone else do it that's why if you have your own view on how you want to dye in case you are a victim of an accident then I see no problem with that. For example if you write in your will that you don't want to be dependent on life on a ventilator
