Essay title: Living Will

Pull It

Life is a continuous cycle of living and dieing. It never stops, people live their life and then they die, everywhere you look. It's pretty natural, but nowadays, people can be kept alive by artificial means when their body can no longer keep them alive by signing a living will. In this will, people have the choice to either be kept alive, or to let their life end naturally. I would sign a living will in order for me not to be kept alive by artificial means.

My first reason for signing a living will is I would not want to prolong any suffering or pain. If I had an incurable disease, I don't believe that I would enjoy being a "vegetable" as some call it in the hospital bed hooked up to machines keeping me alive. I would rather let the disease take its toll on me than to suffer through it just so I could have a few more weeks of living. I can't imagine the kind of thoughts that would be going through my head if I were in that situation. I would not want to be suffering from a disease and then made to have to keep living with the disease.

My second reason for signing a living will is I would not want my family to have to see me in that situation. Most people have seen a very ill person in a hospital bed and it is a very depressing experience, but in the end the patient usually gets well and heads back home. That's not how it is though when kept alive my machines. There is no coming back. If it weren't for the machines, the person would no longer be alive. To be a family member and to have to experience this would be very sad and depressing. I would not want my family
