The current Point of sale system hardware and software that is installed in each of the restaurants in the chain adequately supports the standard functions required including preparation tickets printing, inventory control, financial tracking, and performance reporting. However, this system does not provide the reporting needed for timely and accurate tracking and reporting of incentive contests.

The current hardware consists of restaurant workstations, manager workstations, which also functions as database servers, and terminal printers. The restaurant workstations include: Elo Touchsystems LCD touch panel monitors, Dell Precision 370 PCs running Windows XP Professional, Epson model TM-T88III receipt printers, uninterruptible power supply with automatic voltage regulation (AVR). Each location uses a 100 MBPS local area network (LAN) connection. The manager’s workstations are comprised of: Dell precision 17” flat panel monitor, Dell Precision 370 PCs running Windows XP Professional, Cannon multifunction MF5550 printer, uninterruptible power supply with AVR.

The current software used for point of sales processing provides several different report options including flash sales reports and product sales reports. The output of the current reports of the current POS system will be used by the new contest tracking and reporting software add-on after the standard POS processing is completed. The recommended contest tracking system will be comprised of additional software and use the current POS system hardware.

The recommended additional software to provide the functionality of contest tracking and reporting is Filemaker Pro 7. This package will require some custom configuration to create the desired simple contest parameter input screens and the customized contest tracking reports however the software is capable of using the comma delimited output of the current POS system product sales reporting function as an interface.
