Essay title: The Gift only We Can See

The Gift Only We Can See

Have you found this life’s ultimate gift? Do you know what you are looking for? Love…the truest gift of all. So many people have never had the luxury of giving or receiving this gift. To this I am truly thankful; I live everyday knowing true love at its very best. There are so many things people can love: pets, family members, certain kinds of food but these are all loved by a different kind of love. There are millions of ways you can love, but this kind of love does not happen all the time to a person. It is the kind of love that is not there at the beginning, but grows inside you. This kind of love is for another person that you can not see your life without, even though at one time it was without them. To express this to someone is to commit your life to that other person. Expressing your love to another is the greatest compliment one could ever receive for they are wanted in someone else's life forever.

Everybody wants to experience love at least once in their life. Some people take it however they can, where others are almost incapable of it. People often confuse happiness with actually being in love. They think that because they are happy, that they are in love, when in fact for the most part they are just happy with the idea of being in love and spending the rest of their life with someone. Love is not something to try to rush into, for everyone will experience love sometime in their life. Those that do not understand what love really is and express to anyone that they love them, will be stuck in a dream world that is supported by soap operas and fictional movies.

For the most part when you love someone and you want to spend the rest of your life with them, you will know it. You know how people always say it’s just that gut feeling inside that makes you know for certain you are in love. The one thing that I have always wanted to be is in love. I want someone to love me unconditionally for me and who I am, not for my looks. That may sound corny, but sometimes you see people constantly talking about so and so because of their looks when they don't even actually know the person. I believe that the personal respect and morals of a person make them the most attractive of all. Just because someone has the looks and seems to have everything else going for them does not mean that inside they are happy with themselves. The basis for all love is respect, esteem, and admiration. Respect must be present in order for love to germinate and grow. One cannot love someone or something one disrespects, hates, or loathes.

Many people break up and get divorces. Sometimes it makes you wonder if they were even in love to begin with. So many times people rush into relationships and become involved way too quick. I once caught myself all wrapped up in a guy, that I forgot what was most important...me. I forgot about pleasing myself and making myself happy because the whole time I was constantly doing things to please him. He claimed he loved me and was extremely happy, but in actuality I believe he was in love with the idea of what I could do for him to make him happy. He was not in love with me because
