Essay title: The King: Steven King

Steven King is one of the best horror writers of the 20th century, because of his use of explicit details. I enjoy reading, but I find it hard to read anything not written by Steven King. The way King describes things, makes you feel like your there in the story.

Steven King was born in Portland, Maine, in 1941, but he and his family moved around a lot. King even lived in Indiana for a short while. In 1971, he met Tabitha Spruce in the Fogle Library, on the University of Maine at Orno campus. He and Tabitha got married. They now have kids and live in Maine.

Steven King has written: It, The Shining, Misery, Carrie, The Stand, and many other novels. There is something many people don’t know, however. King used to write under the name or Richard Bachman. Under this name he wrote a few novels, including The Longwalk and Rage. Along with King’s novels, he also wrote many short stories and even a few nonfiction books.

In 1971, his first novel, Carrie, was published. With this act, King began his reign of terror. Not only was this his first book, it was also his shortest; with less than 200 pages in the original hardback copy. This, like many other of King’s novels, was turned into a movie.

Carrie is about a young lady by the name of Carrie. Carrie is special. What makes Carrie special is that she has terrifying power. A cruel prank at her senior prom causes Carrie to unleash her power on the pranksters and the innocent bystanders at the prom.
