Analysis of the story of Seba

The story of Seba is a pure case of abuse which shows how people could be mean and cruel towards other human being that is less privileged. This is a very sad and unfortunate story. The woman that took Seba to Paris violated the deontological ethics- these theory holds that something is inherently right or good about such act as truth- telling and promise-keeping and inherently wrong or bad about such act as lying and promise- breaking. What happened to Seba is an ethical issue that deals with ethical relativism and objectivis objectivism. Ethical relativism holds that there are no universally valid moral principles, but rather all moral principles are valid relative to culture or individual choice. In a statement by John Ladd, " Ethical relativism es the doctrine that the moral rightness and wrongness of actions varies from society to society and that there are no absolute universal moral standards binding on all men at all times. Accordingly, it hold that whether or not it is right for an individual to act in a certain way depends on or is relative to the society to which he belongs" The people who enslaved Seba violated the Golden Rule: "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you". The cruel behavior of these people towards Seba leads me to subjective ethical relativism, the view that morality depends not on the society but rather on the individual. The people that mistreated Seba, were happy and felt good about themselves thinking that what they did to her was moral and just. Well, as in the case of subjective relativism, what they did to Seba was right sinc what ever an individual decided to do and he or she feels good after is moral. One cannot condemn the act of the people towards Seba since they believe torturing her is just and moral. The only basis for judging them wrong might be that they wrer hypocrite who would not want any body
