The research discussed in the annotation is an article which had nee published by The Toronto Star regarding students being truant during a strike held in 2001 of support workers in the TDSB. A main research point which is evident, or is in relation to our topic of study, is it discusses the effect of peers on teenagers’ attendance habits during the time of the strike. It was found that in order not to loose face in front of their peers, many students who wished to stay in school and further there education would become pressured to the extent were they had no choice but to skip. Another important research note to point is that if leaders or those who run a certain social group, or peer group, considers attending class ‘uncool’, then other members belonging to the peer group will be affected by the leaders’ attitudes. Also, the article points out that while parents encourage their children to attend classes, during the strike, the students could often just leave school after parting company with there parents, usually to the adverse encouragement of there peers. The source of this article, The Toronto Star, is a highly reliable daily newspaper which is distributed mainly around the Greater Toronto Area. This article is very useful because it provides some background information about teen relationships as well as how the parents come into the picture. This inclusion of how the parent’s point of view is shown, as well as the and the administration’s perspectives, is a very positive point. A negative aspect of this article is it does include any actual quotatations from students that were interviewed. The article is objective because as stated before the viewpoints of the parties were all included. In conclusion, this source is one which reliable, objective and informative addition to background research topic of teen relationships.

The research which is discussed in this annotation is from the book “Canada’s teens: today, yesterday, and tomorrow”. The book is a comprehensive volume that discusses issues surrounding teens, issues such as sex, drugs, violence, family life, friends and more. It is very detailed in that it has many statistics derived from teenagers themselves; also there is table on nearly every page to accompany the written information. An important point to note in the pages that have been chosen that apply to teens and there relationships are that society has changed, a teen’s new family has become their friends. Also, male and female adolescents feel a need for close friendship, although males may experience this as subliminal yearning. This source is useful as the numerous facts and statistics support the information presented, making it very reliable to cite. Although the book is very detailed, it also jumps between topics frequently, making it somewhat hard to follow. The resource is objective as because it relies solely on facts not only obtained from two new national surveys. It also compares them at times with statistics gathered from similar surveys during 1984 and 1992. This book is highly recommended as a resource for reliable information because of its depth and addition of comments made by professionals.

Looking beyond materialism when looking for a devoted partner can help you to see values of people instead of looking for materialistic qualities. Finding your values is important for you to live your life to the fullest with less materialistic values.
