Sports

Sports are a favorite pass time for a lot of people. They are also careers for the few who go pro. There are a lot of sports with many similarities and differences. Two sports, basketball and soccer, have a lot in common but are different in many ways as well.

Soccer, a sport played with eleven players on the field, is the world’s most played and watch sport. Soccer is a game that is played on a field, fifty to one-hundred yards wide by one-hundred to one-hundred and thirty yards long. Women play on a smaller field then men. In soccer you are allowed to use your head, body, legs, and feet to move the ball. The only person allowed to use their hands are the goalies. When a player receives the ball they can dribble, pass, or shoot the ball into the goal. If a player shoots the ball into the goal they get a point. Soccer is a team sport and requires all eleven players to work together on offence and defense. Teams from all ver the world compete every four years in a tournament called The World Cup.

Basketball, a sport played with five people on the court, is not as popular in the world as it is in the United States. Basketball is played on a court. In the NBA a court is ninety-four feet long by fifty feet wide. In the IBFA (International Basketball Federation) the court
