Heisman Trophy Acceptance Speech

First off, I'd like to say it's an honor for me to be around such great football players from the past and present. Knowing that I am now part of college football history is something that is hard to put into words. This has always been a dream of mine to join the Heisman fraternity, whose names include Roger Staubach, Archie Griffin, Earl Campbell, Marcus Allen, Barry Sanders...the list goes on and on. It truly is an honor to be accepted with open arms from all these past greats. I'd like to thank the Heisman Committe as I accept this award on behalf of my teammates. I hope you guys have a sense of accomplishment, because this is just as much you as it is me. This is an award I couldn't have received with out you guys. I know this is meant to be an individual award; however, in this case, this truly is a team award. I'd like to thank all my coaches on the staff at the university. Thank you for giving me a chance to play for you and teaching me not only about football, but life experiences as well. I'd like to thank my high school coaches as well. Thank you for installing discipline in me and a toughness to keep going and never give up. I'd also like to thank my family. I don't know where I would be or what I would do in life without you guys. You've guided me the right direction throughout my life through the good and the bad. You have raised me to be the man I am today. My dad, who taught me about work ethic everyday growing up.
