Keep abortion legal

Many think that abortion should be legalized in all countries. The issue of abortion is one of the most controversial topic discussed today, especially amongst teenagers. Many people define abortion as murder. To put it in better terms, it is more of a “termination of pregnancy that results in the death of the fetus, but it is usually used to describe pregnancies that are intentionally terminated rather than to describe miscarriages or abortions that occur naturally” (“Facts on Pregnancy and Abortion”). There are many facts on the issues of abortion such as” nearly half of the U.S. women will have an abortion by the time they are 45 years old” (Planned Parenthood). “More than six million women in the U.S. become pregnant every year. Half of those pregnancies are unintended. And 1.31 million end in abortion (Planned Parenthood). “Most women who have abortions, about 55% are under the age of 25.” (Facts on Pregnancy and Abortion).

According to Planned Parenthood the most common reason woman choose abortions are because they are not ready to become parents, they can’t afford a baby, they don’t want to be single parents, they are too young or to immature to

have a child, it’s not their decision and either their husband, partner or parent wants them to have an abortion, or they were a victim of rape or incest.

As stated in the article “facts on Abortion” it’s said that having a child could interfere with school or careers. One woman stated how she can’t have a child because she should be focused on trying to do things for herself. Having a child gets people unfocused. Many teenagers drop out if school because they don’t want to bring an innocent child knowing that they aren’t going to be able to raise them in a stable household. How would a high school or college dropout support a child financially with little education and minimum wage job? They wouldn’t be able to because they are barely supporting themselves let alone another child. Many of these have become a statistic and have failed to realize all the responsibility it takes to care for a child.
