Modest Proposal: Discrimination and Racism

Racism is entwined in every aspect of life and takes place in the work place, religion, politics, and even in schools. The Ku Klux Klan, slavery, and the Holocaust are only a few results of the hatred bred by racism. Wherever there is a minority group, there will be conflicts which erupt over different skin colors and cultures. The only way to get rid of the prejudice existing between ethnicities is to get rid of minorities completely. Without minorities, it will be impossible for the majority to abuse them because the majority will not exist.

Racism did not begin until explorers left their countries and began to traverse the world. Conflict arose as the pioneers came across different people and unusual cultures. Civilizations clashed and the discrimination and hate for people of different colors was born. As Europeans began to settle America, they displaced thousands of Native Americans. Europeans believed themselves to be intrinsically superior to the Native Americans. Europeans stole Africans from their homes and forced them to become slaves in America. It was not until this blending of culture that Native Americans as well as Blacks became subject to discrimination, segregation, and abuse.

There have been many attempts at ending this problem, yet none have probed to be successful. I am tired of seeing people suffer because of their ethnicity and other peoples’ hate for it. I shall propose my solution which will guarantee the end to racism. First we must group all the people in the world together by ethnicity. The Chinese, Japanese, Irish, English, Portuguese, and all other races would then be shipped back to the country they came from. Once back in their home country, no one will be allowed to leave. To assure everyone’s happiness, it is vital that no one comes into contact with another race. Because people of mixed ancestry can not go back to one single country, they will be grouped together with others of the same mix and will be sent off to uninhibited islands around the world. There are many advantages to my proposal which will take effect immediately after the plan is put into place.

First, my plan will eliminate racist hate crimes. The cruelest act a person can commit is harming an innocent person just because of their race. This exact practice has been going on across the world. Verbal abuse, beatings, and even murders have resulted from
