Pizarro's first voyage was trying to make it to the New World (Peru) but ended up being stranded on the coast of Columbia where they encountered many problems such as bad weather, lack of food, and skirmishes with hostile natives. The next expedition they went on was also supposed to be to find a New World, he left from Panama and ended up as far as Colombian San Juan River but after they got there they decided to split up and make there own way. While Pizarro was out searching for the new world his partner found a river tribe near the equator that carried a load of textiles, ceramic objects, and some much-desired pieces of gold, silver, and emeralds, because of this finding Francisco Pizarro decided to make this place the destination of his next voyage. On his way to the equator, on the next voyage, his native interpreters suggested that he change directions a while after in April 1528 when he started to see signs of new tribes. After that he returned to Panama and requested permission for further investigation
