Save the Children

I chose this website as I felt it touched me the most. When I am browsing through the gallery of the website, seeing those people suffering through their difficult lives, I felt an urge to save them immediately. I wish that after people have read through my article about this organization, one could make a difference in their life.

Save the Children is the leading independent organization creating real and lasting change for children in need in the United States and around the world. It is a member of the International Save the Children Alliance, comprising 28 national Save the Children organizations working in more than 110 countries to ensure the well-being of children. Save the Children fights for children's rights. We deliver immediate and lasting improvements to children’s lives worldwide. Save the Children works for, a world which respects and values each child , a world which listens to children and learns and a world where all children have hope and opportunity.

Save the Children's presence in Indonesia spans some three decades – dating back to 1976 – and today is our largest country program. Our work in the provinces of Nanggroe Aceh Darussalam, North Sumatra, Jakarta, West Java, Central Java, East Java, Jogjakarta, West Kalimantan and South Sulawesi includes programs that improve the health of children and women, address child exploitation and trafficking issues, enhance food security and nutrition, increase the relevancy of junior secondary education and prepare families and communities for emergencies. Indonesia has been a hotbed of internal strife for more than 50 years. In Aceh where Save the Children operates, more than 12,000 people have been killed in the past 10 years. A peace accord was signed in November 2002 between the government and rebels, but it is a fragile pace.
