CSR Activities Conducted by the Organization You Choose

In this era of globalization, most of the customer would always prefer more than just a good quality and services when choosing a brand. Many of them are prioritizing corporate social responsibility (CSR), and holding corporations accountable for effecting social change with their business beliefs, practices and profits. In fact, some of them will even turn their back on their favourite companies if they found out that they're not taking a stand for societal and environmental issues (Caramela, 2018).

Digi started practising CR in 2005. Originally, their focus was on a strong community outreach programmed that covered different topics but since evolved into a business-integrated approach to remain sustainable. Digi strongly believes in giving back to society. As a budding up corporate entity, they take their corporate, social and environmental responsibility very seriously and constantly review their policies and strive to make improvements as much as they can.

Digi engages interactively with their employees because 24% of the workforce is comprised of employees below 30 years of age.53 According to the company, Digi employees are extremely receptive to company CR initiatives as they see it as part of who they are and what they do. Moreover, prior to joining Digi, many employees were already aware of and attracted by its CR approach. ("Corporate Social Responsibility Policies in Malaysia Enhancing the Child Focus”, n.d.)

Moreover, for Digi, corporate social responsibility (CSR) programs are designed to provide long-term benefits to the environment, local communities, employees, partners, and customers that they are working with around our world. They believe in doing something constructive and meaningful. They as a business people try to help and support all the needy and poor locally.

The areas that they are extending their support are in Education of Poor, Food and Clothing For the Poor, Health & Medical Care, Child Welfare, Environment Conservation, Women Empowerment. They started these initiatives on 8th November 2012 and they are so proud that they are going on the right path. They were able to lend their support, spirit and helping hand to many within this very short span of time. The never-ending spirit and generous team efforts contributed to the success of all our campaigns.

On 7th May 2014, they also started keeping a percentage of all the plans they sell. Half of this amount will be used for education, food and clothing of poor and for better facilities to students of the rural area ("Our Corporate Social Responsibility", n.d.). This initiative will be directly monitored by their management and will not have any influence of any outside agencies. They also request support from their employees, partners, customers, and individuals in communities for the success of this initiative ("Our Corporate Social Responsibility", n.d.).

Some of the other community initiatives conducted by Digi are:

1.    They organized an AIDS Awareness Campaign for the employees on 1st December 2012 (World AIDS Day)

2.    They Initiated Tree Plantation Drive on 5th June 2013 ‘World Environmental Day’ as a CSR activity. Under this program, Digi Media Infotech planted 30 trees and educated employees about the importance of environmental protection.

3.     They organized sanitation and cleanliness drive in Udaipur city on 8th October 2013.

4.    They organized fundraising drive for Jaamu flood victims on 12th September 2014. All donations for the campaign came from our staff and management. The never-ending spirit and generous team effort contributed to the massive success of the campaign.
