Music- a peacemaker in wartime?

The music- wether it is Salsa or Soul- has a great impact on people. If you look into history, you will see that music was influencing peoples’ life in a certain way. From the first days of the human beings music was the one of the strongest medium to deliver messages. African tribes still uses the Congas to send messages to other tribes, who live kilometres away, by playing these instruments. The Native Americans used to play the Tamborin and the bongos before they went to battles and often these instruments were played after victories over their enimies. Music is linked with the feelings, thoughts and cultures of the different peoples around the world.

So how can music change the world to a better place? Will be there resistance? And is there the possibility that someone else missuses that mighty power of music?

The world is moving and the people are changing. Our life became stressful and everything is focused on another’s success. The majority of our society is trained to seek for money, fame and power, therefore social values were set back, because they seem to disturb the comsumption society living in the industrial countries. Our living standard is one of the best in the world, but these people do not stop crying for more. We’re wasting everything even with the knowledge that people in Africa are dying because of lack of food and clean water, but that doesn’t bother us, because it seems to happen in another world. When I take a look out of my window I see wealthy and healthy people walking around following their work, having a good life. But still there is a wish to earn more money so that we have not to work, but enjoy life at it best. We want so much more than we need and the desire to get into the small group of the richest people follow us even into our dreams. Luxury products were sold out into the world and the world still wants more. People become slaves to work for our desires. All these diamond juwelry are produced in third world countries, but we donnot care, because we does not want to get in contact with stuff, because it might be that we have to change. And because of our wastful behaviour the world is meeting conflicts and these conflicts cannot be solved with violence. Other peoples see us and see how wasteful we live and we don’t just live wasteful but also disrespect other cultures, religions and peoples.

We just look for own profit that’s all. But because of this disrespect but start to resist. And we try to prevent that rumors with our arrogance. And this ruthless approach increase the anger and pain of the affected people. The whole western world is pictured as a world of wasteful people, who live on the cost of others, because we want to keep our living standard so high.

And trough out of such conflicts and misunderstandings wars between countries were fought. And because some of the countries’ diplomacy didn’t reach the desired goals. But this could be changed trough music. We know now that music was a strong tool used to speak into people lifes. Music was not just invented to amuse people, but also to reach the unreached and to help those, who cannot get help. Music was delivering messages of hope and trust into life. Songs were sang to built up the people and to keep them going and the way of life. The Hip Hop culture for example was started by african slaves in America. They started to sing about their lifes, suffering, pain and their deliverence through God. The music was the only thing that the white masters could not take away from them. Right now the Hip Hop scene is on a total different way. The new artists take about their success, the money thea earn and the fame they got trough their music. These songs just increase our wrong living. When we use this powerful medium to send out the right messages people would start to change. They cannot change from one day to the other, but the process of changing would begin. The music would reach everybody, because there will be always
