Business Research Project

Companies today in order to survive must continue to do research to make sure they are staying ahead of the game. Boeing is not exempt from doing the research. They must always do all types of research to see what plane is going to be next to how to make their planes more efficient. Many things are looked at such as the research and the purpose, the problems under investigation, parties involved in conducting the research and methods used to conduct the research.

Recently Boeing has been trying to get a new plane out that is more efficient. The business has developed a plane that will reach the goals of being efficient. The purpose of this research is to make sure that the company can still move forward without hurting their current business. The 787 will provide airlines with unmatched fuel efficiency, resulting in exceptional environmental performance. The airplane will use 20% less fuel for comparable missions than today's similarly sized airplane. It will also travel at speeds similar to today's fastest wide bodies, Mach 0.85. Airlines will enjoy more cargo revenue capacity. (Boeing, 2007)

The company has to make sure that they can make and meet the demands of their suppliers. During the times, Boeing is making major changes or trying to develop the next big thing they always have to make sure they can keep the supply going. Despite some setbacks, Boeing is still able to make a profit and raise the price per share. Boeing has raised the amount they use towards research and development to make sure they do not fall behind in their planning with the new plane.

Other problems that Boeing has been undertaken have been the overall weight of the plane. The aircraft remains about 2% heavier than it should be and have been scrambling to redesign parts of the wing and window frames to meet its weight targets. (Holmes, 2007) The program has signed on 43 of the world's most capable top-tier supplier partners and together finalized the airplane's configuration
