Essay title: Home Alone - Personal Essay

My name is John G. Money and I am 15, about to be 16, years old. My birthday is in a few weeks and I can't wait because I will finally be able to drive. My parents don't think I am very responsible and they aren't ready to trust me with an automobile, I have no idea why. I take the trash out, mow the lawn, clean up after myself, and look after my 3 year old brother when my parents are not around. All I want is an opportunity to prove to my parents that I am in fact a responsible young man. My wish will surely be granted.

My parents are very well known throughout the town as the owners of a local smoothie franchise called "Smoothies Galore". They are always talking about extending the franchise to another state. So on Thursday, one week from my birthday, my mom pulls me to the side. "Me and your father are going out of town," my mother says "we will be gone all weekend on a business trip to try and extend Smoothies Galore".

"What are you going to do with my brother while I'm at school tomorrow?" I asked.

She says "He will stay with Tracy (my neighbor) until you get out of school, then I want you to get him as soon as you get off the bus".

"Sounds good to me" I said.

I am ecstatic, not only because I will have the house to myself, but more because this is my chance to prove to my parents that I am responsible enough to have a car.

The night before they leave my father calls me downstairs to talk to me about being alone and taking care of the house. "I trust you with my house," he says "if I can do that I should be able to trust you with anything, don't disappoint me".

"I will do my best to keep the house in order and I won't disappoint you." I said.

So the next morning I tell my parents goodbye and ensure them nothing will go wrong. I take my brother to Tracy's house, and wait for the bus. Once I get to school I tell my best friend that I have the house to myself for the weekend. He lights up. "Party over Here, whoop whoop! Party over there, whoop whoop!" my friend says.

"No!" I shout "I cannot have a party, my parents would kill me".

My friend says, "What they don't know won't hurt them".

"But what they find out could hurt me!" I said.

Mrs. Buttercup slams her yard stick on her desk and says "Do you two want ISS? If not, you better start paying attention".

"Sorry." I said and finished taking notes.

After school I got on the bus
