Well, the University of Illinois is that school. I think that the university of Illinois is one of the best universities in the country, and the following reasons are here to tell you why that is. Since it's founding in 1867, the University of Illinois at has earned a reputation of international stature. Its distinguished faculty, outstanding resources, understanding of academic programs and research disciplines, and a large student body constitute an educational community suited for scholarship and research.

The schools goals or mission is to strengthen mutually beneficial relationships and build new ones with communities, governmental entities, and alumni groups. They would also like to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the management and administrative services that support the universities mission, and to strengthen the services to the state through the education of a modern labor work force. Among the University's most significant resources is its talented and highly respected faculty. More than seventy faculty members belong to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, the National Academy of Sciences, or the National Academy of Engineering. Ten scientists have received the National Medal of Science, and more than sixty have received the National Science Foundation Young Investigator Award while on the faculty.

Another great resource the school has to offer is the university library, which has the largest public university collection of works in the world, it contains almost seventeen million items in the main library and in the more than forty departmental libraries and units. The library's computerized cataloging system was the first in the world to serve as the primary access to a large academic library. The university also offers a wireless campus, pc and Mac computer labs, television studios, and media services.

The academics at the university offer an intellectually vital and flexible learning environment, quality teaching, high academic standards and scholarships, and opportunities for experiential learning. There are forty-two degree-granting programs such as, business and management degrees, marketing degrees, computer science, computer engineering, civil and environmental engineering, industrial engineering, ect. Housing rates at the school can go from $815 to $2998 per semester, and there is brand new apartment style housing for upper class students and brand new residence halls for the freshmen. The cafeteria setting is very large and is located in the center of the campus with food such as Subway, Burger King, and McDonalds, they even have a grocery store not even a mile away. They have ID cards that are called I-cards, they are the official ID cards of the University of Illinois, and are essential to life on campus. We also can't forget about the low-cost, comprehensive and accessible health care that is available to the campus community.

One extra curricular activity that the school has to offer is athletic programs where they provide competitive, culturally diverse, gender equitable sports programs (nine boy sports & ten girl sports). There are student organizations and clubs, which offer social, service, and professional opportunities within the university and community for their members. Membership can broaden acquaintances, develop leadership ability, build decision-making and problem-solving skills, and complement classroom instruction. They also have an editorially independent student newspaper that will keep students up-to-date, along with a student life calendar that shows you what is happening on campus.
