Essay title: World War II

World War II began I 1941 for the United States when Japan bombed Pearl Harbor. World War II had already been raging for years before the United States entered it. Adolf Hitler in Germany, Benito Mussolini in Italy, and the seizure of Manchuria by Japan where big factors for the beginning of war II. The Axis powers stood against the Allied powers by the end of World War II. Germany, Italy, and Japan stood together known as the axis powers and the United Kingdom, the U.S.S.R., and the United States eventually stood together under the Allied Powers.

Adolf Hitler became dictator for Germany in 1933 and worked diligently in regaining Germany land that was lost during World War I. World War II began in 1939 when Adolf Hitler attacked Poland. Britain had promised to defend polish land if and when Germany attacked, but the British army was too late, Poland fell to Adolf Hitler. Hitler and his army quickly swept thru the land conquering Denmark, Luxembourg, the neverlands, Belgium, Norway, and finally France in 1940. By the time France fell to Hitler, great Brittan was the only one fighting him in this war.

Benito Mussolini, leader of Italy, thought there was little fear of the Second World War reaching his lands. During this time, Italy was still reeling from the Great Depression of 1930 and how to recover to give much thought to Hitler and his troops. Around this time, Hitler was in Germany and just about to take over France. The notion also occurred to Benito Mussolini to try and conquer France before Hitler could take all the glory, but Mussolini was still not sure if Hitler would turn his troops toward Italy. The idea was just to tempting to Mussolini, so with that Benito Mussolini declared war on France. Although Hitler was the one who successfully brought down France. Benito Mussolini turned his navy toward the British waters and tried stopping the British navy from entering the Mediteraian Sea. Mussolini was not successful in the Second World War.

Another leading cause of World War II is the 1919 Treaty of Versailles. Germany and its people never recovered from the treatment that was dealt to them at the end of the First World War. The treaty was supposed to be a peace settlement that helped end World War I. This treaty stated that Germany was to blame for the First World War. It also stated that they had to give away part of their land. The Alsace-Lorraine was to be given back to France, part of West Prussia was to be given to Poland, and the city if Danzig would become free. Germany would have to pay war time reparations in the amounts of billions of dollars. The last this is that the German army would have to be cut down to fewer than one hundred thousand soldiers. This treaty left the German people upset and angry. Adding to that the effects of the great depression, Germany and Adolf Hitler were primed and ready with anger to go to war again and set things right this time around.

Another cause of World War II would come from Japan when they invaded Manchuria in 1931. Japan was feeling the heavy hit of the 1929 depression and was looking for a way to fix there problems. Millions of people were unemployed, starving, and angry. Japan had a population number that was far above higher than they should have had. Manchuria was looking to Japan like a suitable piece of land that they could use for their over crowded citizens. Manchuria had rich crops, plenty of space and land that was very appealing to the people of Japan. The Chinese were not well liked by the Japanese people of Japan, so an attack on Manchuria could easily be explained as the only way to go upon enemies.

While all this was going on, Adolf Hitler was torturing many people in Germany. Adolf Hitler believed that the Germans were a superior race to Jewish people and any one who was different than the Germans. Hitler started speaking out against Jews and people who were outwardly different and considered inferior. He also went as far as setting up camps known as concentration camps that were like prisons for anyone he considered different. He also imprisoned anyone associated with people he considered inferior to his race. Many Jew were murdered, some brutally slain right on streets. This time is known as the Holocaust. Allied forces finally came in to stop Hitler and his Nazi party in 1945 right before the end of the Second World War and before Adolf
