The Position Paper

While the emergence of information age has surprisingly affected every individual’s life, technology, which may have forced the society to move forward swiftly, might appear to be one of the most significant representatives among information age. It is obvious that technology is changing the entire world on behalf of the increasing quality of daily life, the reducing physical distance, and the improving relationships associated with every single individual. Since technology has extensively altered every single field, it has been widely applied in the business domain. Technology has helped employees enhance their productivity, management simplify their jobs, and leaders improve their entrepreneurial abilities. Therefore, some researchers have addressed that technology has become so significant that people are not as crucial as they were on one hand. While some opponents have argued that people should have the priority of consideration by the leaders in any industry, no matter how necessary the role that technology is playing on the other hand. Since then, the dilemma that the priority between considering people first and technology has started to be disputed.

According to the development of technology, the amount of employees has been gradually decreasing, so the number of unemployment is becoming lager and lager. Besides the unemployment, since technology is known by its almost no mistakes taking place, leaders, especially in the business filed, have begun to consider cut the amount of their employees, which has caused a trend that downsizing is getting more and more severe. There generates a critical question that has to be asked that which should be more important, the people, or the technology.

Those leaders, who have highly relied on applying technology in management, may insist on the perception that technology should be concerned more than employees because hardly could technology make mistakes, which may be indicated by reasons as followed. Firstly, applying technology could improve the productivity of employees and management. For example, in the early twenties century, employees were still doing exchanging information or typing papers through typewriters in business world, which was quite ineffective, but the productivity was dramatically improved after the invention of personal computers and the spread of internet. In addition, it becomes easier for management to operate a company in terms of the development of technology since the technology could systematically control employees performances. Secondly, the utilization of technology could cut the complexity for both employees and leaders. For instance, the chain manufacturing in a factory used to be very complicated, so the final outputs could be completely wrong if any segment went inappropriately. The chain manufacturing began to run precisely when the related machines were applied to work instead of workers. Last but not least, making full use of technology can build better relationship. To break this opinion down, technology contributes to the accelerated developing social networking not only for normal individuals, but also for the colleagues and leaders in the working environment. For instance, a large number of corporations have opened their platforms for employees to communicate with their leaders or with each other. As a result of this, relationships among these specific groups have become better.         

In a nut shell, Technology has not only been improving the overall effectiveness of accomplishing tasks among business, but also building a better connection among all the colleagues. However, besides the advantages brought by the technology, there appears to be some limitations coming along with.

First of all, over relying on the technology could generate a serious issue that the entire operating system may break down if the machines used in operations work inappropriately. For example, there is a shoe manufacturing factory that contains ten parts in the whole process, and each different part uses different machines. If one of these machines of the entire chain manufacturing breaks down, the factory is not able to make shoes. In this case, overly depending upon the technology may cause a significant negative pause of the manufacturing process.

Secondly, past and current specialized skillful employees may lose when the frequency of technology pursues to be growing. A technology company owns a large number of technology employees, but the management starts to consider cut through the number of employees in terms of the constant expenses of employees wages since the company has widely applied advanced technology. After the company done the downsizing, the company figures out the issue that some practical technological problems can not be solved by machines, but they have lost crucial technical employees. Employees, who have significant expertise, should be well treated and protected.
