Essay in Which You Argue for or Against Making Cigarette Smoking Illegal

Drugs are bad for anyone who smokes them. A cigarette is a type of drug that effectually can cause harm to your health. Cigarette smoke kills a large population of Americans every day. Why would someone pick up a cigarette without considering the effects it will have on him or her? Cigarettes should be illegal because cigarettes are a powerful and addicting drug that are very harmful to the people who smoke them, the people who inhale second hand smoke, and the environment.

Smoking is harmful to anyone that starts the addicting habit. People start smoking for a number of reasons. Some people think it looks cool. Others start because their family members or friends smoke. Statistics show that most people start smoking tobacco before the age of 18.Most adults who started smoking in their teens never expected to become addicted. Several years of smoking can result in early death and illness. That's why people say it's just so much easier to not start smoking at all.

Cigarette smoke is bad for anyone that inhales it. You do not have to be a smoker for smoking to harm you. You can also have health problems from breathing in other people's smoke. Secondhand smoke is the combination of smoke that comes from the person actually smoking the cigarette and what's exhaled from the substance. Secondhand smoke contains several harmful chemicals which can result in cancer and possible death. There is no safe amount of secondhand smoke. Children, pregnant women, older people and people with heart or breathing problems
