Zz and His Sun

ZZ and his sun

Somewhere in the middle of a hill, there lived a happy colony of ants. ZZ was one of them. ZZ was a handsome ant, and he was half the size of the raindrop. His body was shiny brown and he had very strong legs. He lived with his family in a dark and well-built tunnel. Being so young, energetic, and eager, he just wanted to have a chance to get out there one day and discover the world. To figure out what are on those giant trees that bear the huge fruits that only two of them would be enough to feed his entire colony for 2 months. Or figure out where the bees got their honey. Everyone knew that honey was such a luxurious and rare food that maybe only the queen had the chance to eat.

That day came. ZZ woke up that morning, feeling so fresh but so frustrated at the same time. “I have to go and discover the world today!!!” He started packing some food, water, and his favorite sword, and then off he went.

He left the tunnel. It is rather cold today,’ he thought. “And it’s not as light up as I thought either. I need to go find the sun. I cannot tell my parents that I gave up on my journey because of this silly mountain and not find out what else are on the other side of it. Besides, I am determined to find my sun.” So he started to climb up that mountain; he kept climbing and climbing. “I need to at least get to the top of this mountain before dusk so that I can rest and eat something.” It was getting darker and darker, and it was also getting cold. Finally, ZZ got to a really flat top and he decided to take a rest and eat the food that he brought with him. It was so cold that his teeth chattered. At that moment, he wished that he could be home where it was so much warmer. He wanted to give up and go back home in the morning.

Suddenly, ZZ saw this sudden source of light blinding his eyes. He was shocked for a few seconds. “What a miracle!!! What could be so bright when it’s supposed to be night? Could it be the sun I’m looking for? I need to go there right now. So that I will have this sun all to myself and never get cold again.”

This light seemed to bring back all ZZ’s energy. So ZZ continued to walk, and he passed a lot of hills and mountains, some very slippery, some with the most solid rock ZZ’s
