I was born a very cold winter day, in 1989. It was during a huge snow blizzard, on Valentines day that my mom had to rush to the Fairbanks Memorial hospital. 11 hours later, at 9:10 p.m. I weighed 7 pounds, and 8 ounces. My mother was letting my father pick my name. He picked, "Shawna Lauren." My mom, and my brother loved it. My parents together decided to spell it, Shanna. We lived in Fairbanks until I wa sabout six months old. Then, we moved to Anchorage. As I grew, my dad worked out of town every two weeks, and my mom was a stay at home mother. She was my best friend, including my brother, and all of her friends. I spent all my time with my mom, and waited for my brother to get off the bus everyday. My mom's girlfriends didn't have any children, so they treated my brother and I like their own. They were at our house all the time. As I got older, and still didn't attend school, when I waited for my brother, he started taking me with him, to the basketball court, or bike rides with his friends. That's when I met his friend Evan's little sister Michelle. She was a year older then me. I invited her to my house, and we had a hard time becoming friends for some reason. We got in an argument over our dolls, and I told her to go home. She lived right down the street, and so her brother took her home. A couple hours later, at dinner, we got a phone call. It was Michelle's dad. He wanted to talk to my mom. I gave her the phone, and my mom told me they were on their way over. I ran downstairs to hide, because I thought I was in trouble. But, when they got to my house, my mom made me come up and apologize. Tom, Michelle's dad said "you two girls are the only little girls in the neighborhood, and it would only be right if we were friends." I agreed, and so did she. The next day, I invited her over, and
