Candy

Candy is very quiet and mysterious in the beginning of the book, but throughout the chapters he beings to talk more, especially when he befriends Lennie and George, and becomes interested in their plan. Lennie and George are sitting on their bunks in their room, while Candy is on the other side on his bunk gazing at the ceiling eavesdropping on having their own ranch. “S’pose I went in with you guys. Tha’s three hundred an fifty buck I’d put in” (59). Candy is persuading George and Lennie with giving them half of the money so that he can live with them on their ranch. Throughout the chapters Candy chance of living on the ranch with George and Lennie slowly become smaller and smaller.
